The 9 Types
Type 1 | The Reformer
The Reformer is driven by a strong desire to do what is right. Reformers naturally attune to what is incorrect about a situation, a person, or the environment and seek to correct it. At their best, Reformers are discerning, highly responsible, and ethical. Challenges for Reformers include judgment of self and others, allowing rest/relaxation, and accepting the flaws of themselves and others.
Type 2 | The Helper
The Helper is driven by a strong desire to connect to others. Helpers naturally attune to what others want and accommodate accordingly. At their best, Helpers are generous, empathetic, and deeply caring. Challenges for Helpers include paying attention to their own needs, overstepping boundaries in the name of service, and being willing to own their less-positive emotions.
Type 3 | The Achiever
The Achiever is driven by a strong desire to succeed and perform well in the eyes of others. Achievers naturally attune to what is perceived as successful in a given environment and adapt their thoughts and behaviors to meet that standard of success. At their best, Achievers are competent, confident, and have the capacity to maximize their own potential and that of others. Challenges for Achievers include accepting failure, recognizing their true emotions, and separating their image from their true selves.
Type 4 | The Individualist
The Individualist is driven by a strong desire to be unique. Individualists naturally attune to their own emotions, especially their negative ones. At their best, Individualists are deeply creative, emotionally honest, and highly intuitive. Challenges for Individualists include seeing past negative emotions and experiences, moving out of their naturally introspective state, and not allowing their emotions to take the driver’s seat.
Type 5 | The Observer
The Observer is driven by a strong desire to be self-sufficient and private. Observers naturally attune to their thoughts and the acquisition of knowledge. At their best, Observers are insightful, objective, and innovative. Challenges for Observers include connecting with the natural abundance of their time and energy, stepping outside of the comfort of their mental world, and expressing a full spectrum of emotions.
Type 6 | The Loyal Skeptic
The Loyal Skeptic is driven by a strong desire to remain safe in an unpredictable world. Loyal Skeptics naturally attune to potential threats to their safety and sense of security, and guard against these threats by asking questions, planning, and remaining constantly vigilant. At their best, Loyal Skeptics are mentally agile, engaging, and perceptive. Challenges for Loyal Skeptics include fearing the loss of security/support, ever-present low-grade anxiety, and a downward spiral of questions that can lead to inaction.
Type 7 | The Enthusiast
The Enthusiast is driven by a strong desire for play, excitement, and stimulation. Enthusiasts naturally attune to future possibilities and novel fascinations. At their best Enthusiasts are optimistic, imaginative, and joyful. Challenges for Enthusiasts include restless hunger for stimulation, sitting with negative experiences and emotions, and sticking with situations or people that do not interest them.
Type 8 | The Challenger
The Challenger is driven by a desire to be strong and in control of their fate. Challengers naturally attune to the power balance and making sure they are never caught on the wrong side of it. At their best, Challengers are protective, action-oriented, and empowering of others. Challenges for Challengers include moderating expressions of anger, accepting weakness in themselves or others, and being willing to lay their armor down.
Type 9 | The Peacemaker
The Peacemaker is driven by a strong desire to experience harmony and peace. Peacemakers naturally attune to other people’s agendas and to keeping the environment comfortable for themselves and others. At their best, Peacemakers are accepting, highly collaborative, and express a natural ability to take a holistic viewpoint. Challenges for Peacemakers include dealing with conflict, accepting their own anger, and allowing for discomfort in their experience.
